Buenos Aires, January 27 (NA) – A 54-year-old man was extradited from Brazil accused of stabbing his ex-wife's boyfriend and stealing a cell phone. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the suspect would have attacked the victim with a bladed weapon on the arm after entering his ex-partner's home. The victim hit a window, the glass caused serious injuries to his head, and then he went to a nearby police station to file the corresponding complaint, while the supposed attacker took advantage of the situation to steal his phone and flee. In this context, the Court of Instruction No. 3 intervened in the investigation and requested the collaboration of the Federal Division of Fugitives and Extraditions of the Federal Police with the aim of locating the fugitive. The force issued an international arrest warrant through the publication of a Red Notice, while the staff of the National Directorate of Migration indicated that the fugitive traveled to Brazil, where he remained hidden in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. The Brazilian police carried out the arrest of the wanted man, the Argentine Ministry of Security began the extradition proceedings, and the neighboring country's justice authorized the transfer. Officers from the Puerto Iguazú Federal Operational Unit (DUOF) received the accused, who was guarded by Interpol Brazil, and is now at the disposal of the intervening judge to define his procedural status for the crimes of “aggravated injuries by the use of a bladed weapon” and “theft”.
